Identify the asymptote: f(x) = -2/ x + 3

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

A vertical asymptote occurs when the denominator (bottom part) of the fraction = 0 So first, set x + 3 = 0 what does x equal? A horizontal asymptote occurs when you set x = to infinity. -2 ---- infinity If a REALLY big number is in the denominator here....what does this function approach? *hint...what is 1/10000000? a really small number right? use this in the context above*

I know the answers should be x = -3 and y = 0 but I need to know how to show my work

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

I'm not really sure how to show it other than how I have explained it Vertical asymptote happens when denominator = 0....x + 3 = 0...x = -3 is the vertical Horizontal asymptote is what the function is when x = infinity....-2/infinity = 0 is the horizontal Not sure how else to put it though

I'll just write that then. thanks.
