Your English teacher has decided to randomly assign poems for the class to read. The syllabus includes 4 poems by Shakespeare, 5 poems by Coleridge, 2 poems by Tennyson, and 2 poems by lord Byron. What is the probability that you will be assigned a poem by Coleridge and then a poem by lord Byron. 7/13 9/13 5/78 6/13 A mathematis journal has accepted 14 articles for publication. However, due to budget restrains, only 7 articles can be published this month. How many specific ways can the journal editor assemble 7 of the 14 articles for publication? 14 3,432 98 17,297,280
I am having trouble with only these 2 questions. I think the first one is A. I am not sure about the second one.
The probability of being assigned a poem by Coleridge first is 5/13. There are now only 12 poems remaining, so the probability of being assigned a poem by Lord Byron is 2/12. The required probability is the product of these two values of probability.
The number of permutations of 7 articles selected from 14 articles is 14!/7!
Thank you so much!!!!!
