y=sinx+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain? I have a few more questions like this and i don't know how to do them

OpenStudy (ddcamp):

We know that it's plus 2 (not minus 2) because it's above the x axis.

OpenStudy (ddcamp):

So we know that the value at x = 0 of the non-translated function (the function before we shifted it up 2) would be 0. That means it's sin, not cos.

OpenStudy (ddcamp):

And we know that it's positive sin because the graph increases from f(0) to f(1), like sin. If it were -sin(x) the graph would be decreasing from f(0) to f(1)

what about this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=cosx-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=cos x - 2 or y=cos(x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=cos x - 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay what if it it above and below the x axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=cosx-1?
