I tried that but im not getting the right answer i keep getting 209 what am i doing wrong?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

as DYHW has stated....for every 'x' you see in your equation....replace it with a (2) so you have \[(2)^4 + 3(2)^3 -2(2)^2 - 4(2)+ 1\] and solve you get 16 + 24 - 8 - 8 + 1 40 - 16 + 1 24 + 1 25 is what I get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see i was doing 6 to the third thank you

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
