Can someone help me figure out how to graph leminscates in calculus? Our class is a little confused because we are trying to use the calculator and we aren't sure if we use +/- or not. If anyone can give me some tips please? any help is greatly appreciated. @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

what is the equation ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We are working with square root os cos(2theta), and i know that it is a figure 8 but its just a little tricky because its undefined in the table of the calculator. I'm also a little confused on what the period is exactly for these graphs.

OpenStudy (phi):

the period to theta= 0 to 2pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well im going to work on it later tonight, thanks for your help!

OpenStudy (phi):

if you do it by hand, say from theta = 0 to pi/2 you get numbers like theta r 0 1 10º 0.97 30º 0.71 45º 0 from 45 to 134.999 you get imaginary numbers (so dump those) 135 0 145 0.58 160 0.87 180 1 190 0.97 225 0 225 to 315 are imaginary 315 0 330 0.71 360 1

OpenStudy (phi):

with a calculator you have to leave out certain ranges of angles.
