I'm stuck on an algebra equation while doing ACT prep.. help? (200/(r+10))=((200/r)-1)

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Multiply both sides by (r+10) first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that but that -1 keeps confusing me

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Multiply the whole thing. i.e \((r+10)(\frac{200}{r} - 1)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should i first combine ((200/r)-1) as one? Which would give me ((200-r)/r) ?

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Up to you. In this case, you want (200/r) - (r/r) for laziness.
