plse help me to solve these equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in both side, multiply LCM.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ex) 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/5 LCM is 2x3x5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30 but no use it can't be solved

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm.. 1st question's LCM is 60xy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think we can't solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can try to add number and remove it to make a square + a number so it can be solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u get what i mean ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we multiply 1st by 60xy we have \[60y-60x=xy\] second one \[60(2-y+x+2)=(x+2)(y-2)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[240-60y+60x=xy-2x+2y+4\] \[244-62y+62x=xy\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[244-62y+62x=60y-60x\] \[244=122y-122x\] hence \[60y-60\dfrac{122y-244}{122}=y\dfrac{122y-244}{122}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[122y^2-244y-60*122y+60*122y-244*60=0\] basic quadratic equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another method \[\frac{1}{x+2}=\frac{1}{y-2}-\frac{1}{60}=\frac{62-y}{60y-120}\] so \[\frac{1}{x}=\frac{6y-120-2(62-y)}{62-y}\] so we can reaplace this in equation 1 \[\frac{1}{y}+\frac{6y-120-2(62-y)}{62-y}=\frac{1}{60}\] \[62*60-60y+y(20)(8y-244)=60y(62-y)\] basic equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i m not geting answer

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

are they all one big problem?
