i believe you would have a multiplicity. so if you had (x-2)^2, that would be a multiplicity of 2.

yeah, there is only one solution: b^2 - 4ac > 0: two real solutions b^2 - 4ac = 0: one real solution b^2 - 4ac < 0: no real solutions
