Romeo and Juliet, Act 3. I'm supposed to write a description of the body language and physical actions a character might do towards another one (the actions are made up but based on the actual story, if that makes sense) so basically I write how I think they would act. I can choose from these three options of characters: Option 1: How the Nurse and Paris might act toward one another Option 2: How Friar Lawrence and Prince Escalus might act toward one another Option 3: How Lord Capulet and Lord Montague might act toward one another
You don't have to give me a total answer, just give me some hints and advice, this play is confusing.
I know that this is too late for you, so if anyone else needs some help with this assignment, this is for you: OPTION 1: Okay, so the nurse was a very kind-hearted woman that was outspoken, and well, quite the clown. The nurse truly cared for Juliet, I mean, she practically raised the girl! That being said, she wants the very best for her. Now, as you should know, Juliet was supposed to marry the count Paris, and he came calling frequently in an attempt to win her over. Juliet's father had already set the deal for their marriage. The nurse really liked Paris - she would constantly tell Juliet what a great man he was. That is, until Juliet had told the nurse that she refused to marry him and that she loved someone else. Caught up in all of the romance, the nurse quickly changed sides, and was rooting for Romeo. SO. That being said, since Paris was such a kind young man, the nurse might actually feel kind of guilty for helping Juliet and Romeo. Now, Paris was very sweet and had excellent manners. So if they were to encounter one another, Paris would most likely try to be polite, and despite there being such a gap between their social classes, he would try to start up a conversation with the nurse. Usually the nurse is very outgoing, but I'd imagine that she would almost be humbled with guilt. The Nurse would answer him, but would rarely look him in the eye. She would feel guilty and uneasy around such a good man who could have been as good of a match for Juliet. She would hold the conversation, but would answer in short replies with her eyes cast down. He would sense her discomfort and abort the conversation in a polite way. OPTION 2: Honestly, I'm not really too sure on this one. For those of you who don't know, option 2 is with Friar Lawrence and Prince Escalus. I went on SparkNotes, though, and here's the description that they have for each of those characters: Friar Lawrence: A Franciscan friar, friend to both Romeo and Juliet. Kind, civic-minded, a proponent of moderation, and always ready with a plan, Friar Lawrence secretly marries the impassioned lovers in hopes that the union might eventually bring peace to Verona. As well as being a Catholic holy man, Friar Lawrence is also an expert in the use of seemingly mystical potions and herbs. Prince Escalus: The Prince of Verona. A kinsman of Mercutio and Paris. As the seat of political power in Verona, he is concerned about maintaining the public peace at all costs. As you can see, there really isn't much about Prince Escauls, so this one is probably the hardest one out of them all since we know so little about him. OPTION 3 Alright, as we know, Lord Capulet and Lord Montague were bitter enemies and fought every time they came in sight of one another. Neither one of them knew why they were fighting , only that they were enemies, and so they went about fighting and quarreling over every single little thing. So I'd imagine that they would just be very hostile towards one another.
