OpenStudy (campbell_st):

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Distribute the 3x to the 2x-1?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well what are you asked to do..? factorise or distrubute

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

It does not say :( but the answer is (3x+1)(2x-1). I just want to know how to get there.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so you are factorising... this is what happens \[3x(2x - 1) + 1(2x -1)\] what the common factor...?

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

2x-1

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep... thats correct... so whats left why you take out the common factor..??

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Just 3 and 1...

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

When you say "take out," do you mean add together? Or simplify, that is?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

nope... have another look |dw:1370255495154:dw| this is grouping in pairs.
