How marketable is Mechatronics Engineering in the US?
I did a few internet searches and found only one organization for it, founded by the first accredited program of education for it. A few schools have it. So, it is not like it is a common thing. Hard to say what the long term outlook would be.
It's not very common, which could mean one of two choices. 1. It's not in high demand which is why it's not very common, there's not a high necessity for mechatronic engineers 2. it's very selective. And i think it's choice 1 because I dont know of any schools that offer mechatronic engineering as a course or degree. If you want to come to the US. I suggest electrical engineering. It's booming right now!
Here it seems to be part of the robotics area of engineering. http://www.me.berkeley.edu/Grad/Areas/ME_Main_Frame_Mechatronics.htm http://www.ronynovianto.com/weblog/4-uncategorised/7-mechatronics-vs-robotics-automatic-vs-autonomous
Nice links @e.mccormick but those look like Graduate school options.
Yep. More like a specialty than a degree. Seems to be part of Mechanical Engineering. Particularly the part where Mechanical overlaps Computer Engineering.
