Evaluate 81 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[81\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }\] --- does it look like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay this is really simple, this basically means that there is a fraction that has four at th bottom and a number bigger than four on the top

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have any clue of what you want to do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay the big 81 to the side basically says that you have made the fraction 4/4 81 times. each time you go over the denominator the number to the side will increase by 1. here is an example = 1 2/4 is equivalent to 6/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81.75 I multiplied 81 times 4 and added 3 then divided by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the multiple choice the answers choices are 3, 9, 27, or 243

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Wth..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ik right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um im sorry guys but your both doing it wrong how is 81.75/4 equivalent to 81 3/4

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Oh i see, it isn't written as an improper fraction but more like \[\large \frac{81}{1}*\frac{3}{4}\] so multiply the numerators, and then divide it by 4.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

That should give you what you're looking for..
