identify the domain of an equation that is like y=radical4x+4-2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain is simply the numbers you can plug in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so any valid x value.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

you can input any negative values inside a square root, unless you want imaginary numbers, to what else can you put in there? Which x-values?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My homework just says identify the domain. \[\sqrt{4x+4}-2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the inside the square root cant be negative so we find out what x values makes the inside negative 4x+4 = 0 solve for x 4x=-4 no divide both sides by 4 x=-1 so can not be below -1 or the inside will be negative. so -1 to infinity is the domain.
