Please help, 8th grade, exponents!??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you have the same base and different exponent that are multiplying together you simply add the exponents together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So essentially you need 5^x * 5^y where x and y are any combination of numbers that add up to 11 such as x=1 and y=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well tell me two numbers that add up to 11?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first one should be 6 + 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6 and 5 will be your exponent value while 5 will be the base The base is the big number in the bottom while the exponent is the little number on the top right side. So for 5 and 6 it will look like this 5^5 * 5^6 = 5^11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we have the base 5 for each one and the exponent 5 for the first one and exponent 6 for the second one. A product simply means multiplication so we multiply together both exponents.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok can you give it a try for the other two combinations you have left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the last one will be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES!!! GOod job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"High five"
