no, it isn't, as you see , since 2 \(\ne \)0 (after y's getting cancelled) that equation does not have any solution

I probably should not of put it equal to zero, this is a small part of a larger problem, if is was to simplify this: y(2/y) what does that simplify to?

that would just be 2

ok, could u explain why: I think it is this: y(2/y) 2y/y one of the y's cancel so u are left with y on top???? so answer is y

y's cancel out and you are left with "2" :)
