Which statement is used to prove that angle ABD is congruent to angle ACD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the figure below, segment AC is congruent to segment AB.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which statement is used to prove that angle ABD is congruent to angle ACD? Segment AD bisects angle CAB. Triangle ACD is similar to triangle ABD. Segment AD is congruent to segment AC. Angle CAB is congruent to angle CBA.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@andriod09, do you think you can help with this one?

OpenStudy (andriod09):

To me, it look like Triangle ACD is similar to triangle ABD because of the line running from the top vertex to the bottom base, causing the single triangle to become two.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is how it looks straight up, I know that some of it was cut

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I don't think that the two triangles are congruent

OpenStudy (andriod09):

WEll talk about crashing and burning. :P hmm. Let me think about it a minute...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, but I looked at it sideways and saw that line segment AC was slightly more slanted than line segment AB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@andriod09 are you there?

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Yeah, i'm here. photoshop, the best thing in the world to try and solve this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, thats what i had to do

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Okay, i've narrowed it down to two choices, either A) Segment AD bisects angle CAB. or C)Segment AD is congruent to segment AC. to me, it looks like because of how you turned it, it looks like: Segment AD bisects angle CAB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That sounds about right because i measured each side and Line AD was just a little bit bigger than line AC so I think "Segment AD bisects angle CAB" is right

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Cool beans. :P Good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, hey I have one last question, would you like to help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@andriod09

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Yeah. sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool! Look at the figure shown below.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Provide the missing statement and justification in the proof. B. Using complete sentences, explain why the proof would not work without the missing step.

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Mind posting it in another question and medaling me for this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah!
