1. Compare the shapes of the three hills of your roller coaster. Are they all the same shape? Which hill(s) have the sharpest crests? How do the slopes of the hills compare?

@JA1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you can model this with lines instead of curves to get a better feel for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im assuming the valleys are evenly distributed?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we drop the heights by 20, and factor out 10 6 * 2 * * 0 * * * 4 4 4 4 4 the slopes can be more easily determined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 I still don't get it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ive attempted to make the process as simple as possible. Can you tell me what it is that you are not getting?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one has the sharpest crest? how do the slopes compare??

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1370455182451:dw| how would you define the "sharper" crest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

<---- that one

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct, so given the same span at the base, the taller the hill, the sharper the crest

OpenStudy (amistre64):

can you tell me how slope relates to it? which one has the steeper slope (steep sides)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I know that the left one has a sharper crest, but idk how they compare..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you have 3 "hills" to compare .... |dw:1370455349794:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they have the same size base?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im assuming the same size bases yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the taller the hill, the sharper the crest, the steeper the slope the flatter the hill, the duller and flatter ......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that question is answered?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im not the one grading it, so i wouldnt know how they actually want you to format the answer ... but those are the basics of it yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. What force(s) slowed down the tennis ball? How can this/these force(s) be reduced? @amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the roller coaster diagram above..
