Explain, in your own words, the step-by-step process to simplifying the expression below. Include the simplified answer in your explanation. (6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7)
What I put: To simplify the expression (6x^2 − 5) − (3x^2 + x + 7), we can use two methods, the horizontal method and the vertical method. Here, let's use vertical method in this case, to me it is easier. The first step is to remove the parentheses by distributing the invisible "ones" before each set. So, (6x^2 − 5) − (3x^2 + x + 7) would become 1(6x^2 − 5) − 1(3x^2 + x + 7). This will then become 6x^2 − 5 − 3x^2 + x + 7. The next step is to sort the terms. One way to do this is to make a table. The table should have a column for each degree. *The largest degree in this example is 2. We must have a column for the x terms and a column for the constants. *The purpose of using a table is to align like terms vertically. We need to sort each term from the expression into the table. Oh, and let's not forget, we need to copy the sign in front of each of the terms! Then, our final step would be to combine like terms by adding down each column. So, in the x terms column we would have 6x^2, − 3x^2, and + x. In the constants column we would have - 5, and + 7. Now, we need to figure out the quantity. We do this by starting out with the x terms column. 6x^2 − 3x^2 + x = 3x^2 + x. Then we go to the constants column. - 5 + 7 = 2. So, (6x^2 − 5) − (3x^2 + x + 7) simplified would be 3x^2 + x + 2.
Do you have any option with you? :)
no :( wish I did >.>
in the question is that x^2 or x2?? i mean power or multiply?
LOL. Okay :D I'll help :)
aww thanks xoya ^O^
the x next to the -7? :) its just x :P
@xoya is my Cousin,@charlotte123 Don't hit her with your coconuts xD
@uri :O XD
@uri okay I wont ^-^ but its not like I was planning too, shes too nice ^-^
(6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7) I am asking its (6 multiply by 2) or (6 power 2)??
oh my bad I forgot to put the ^ >.> the equation would be (6x^2 − 5) − (3x^2 + x + 7) :)
I already solved the problem, but the things is, I dont know if my answer is right or not :(
Okay wait I'll solve and let you know :)
thanks xoya :D
Listen may i know your answer? :)

I'm getting 3x^2+x+2
yep thats my answer :D
Ahaan i don't think we will solve this this :( Well the question is (6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7) We will first remove the brackets
Hahaha okay cool :D
yep :)
@xoya did ya get the same answer? :D
I got 3x^2+x+2 and you? :)
@xoya thats exactly my answer :D thanks for the help xoya! :D
Your always welcome xD
(6x2 − 5) − (3x2 + x + 7) Pemdas if i am correct
I used the vertical method, since in my lesson it gives me 2 options, whether horizontal or vertical >.>
Well just figure them and this is going on graph correct?
@Notamathgenius I just need to simplify the polynomial thats all :)
I got 3x^2 + x + 2 for the answer but Im not sure if its right or not >.>
Oh then do it it's not hard All you need to know is PEMDAS. That is the order of operations, or order of all the different applications you can do to an expression. Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction. Youd start out by multiplying inside each radical. (12-5) - (6+x+7) Then youd add everything up in each separate parenthesis. (7)-(13 +x) *note you cant add x to the integers, since its a variable. Next distribute the negative to the whole second term. [you can drop the parenthesis now] 7-13-x And finish it all up and you get 6-x
@Notamathgenius thanks for the help ^-^
