public service announcement asking for help with any type of test is considered cheating even if it is take home or online the point of the test is to test your own abilities and not our ability. Also, Openstudy has an anti- cheating policy which is noted in the Terms and Conditions which you can find at the bottom of the screen. If you see anyone asking for help with an exam, please avoid helping them, yes its mean but it is necessary Thank you In case if anyone thinks there is a debate on this issue there is no debate helping with exams of any sort is cheating, end of story asking for help for an exam may result in a temporary suspension

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's implying that anyone enforces the anti-cheating policy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The point of a take-home exam is that you are allowed all resources except for your classmates. We are not their classmates, so there's nothing against that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

regardless of takehome exams or online exams we've had teachers complain in the past

OpenStudy (anonymous):

easier to consider asking for help with exams in general as cheating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't assign "take home exams" then. That's not an exam, that's just homework

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, take home exams usually have an honor statement to go with it that states you had no help so asking for help is a violation of the honor statement they will most likely sign and thus cheating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

None of the take home exams I ever took had that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know about that Florida State Professor who accused all his students of cheating but he was plagiarizing the whole time? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just because the professor plagirarized does not make it ok for the students to cheat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2 seperate issues there

OpenStudy (ja1):

Um, if the user still understands what you taught him/her then OS did it's part.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

I like giving take home exams...allows me to ask much harder questions

OpenStudy (mertsj):

@ Zarkon I know what you mean. I once had a calc prof who gave take home exams. It was not unusual to work 40 hours on his exams from Thursday when he gave the exam to Tuesday when it was handed in.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

A good exam is one in which you learn something. A good take home exam can do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Zarkon i like that ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One cannot tell people to not use notes or help on a take-home exam as some people have other obligations besides the exam, like studying for the final. Fortunately, studying for the final includes reading the sections that your take-home exam is over, so form that you now have more knowledge about the exam as well! No passing that up.

I have a point to make in my story: Everyone cheats(on here and in real life). Everyone knows it. Let's try and raise a campaign called #Stopthecheat! and say "#stopthecheat!" everywhere we go! That will raise awareness and soon stop the cheating hopefully on here and everywhere else.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we've tried but people usually forget within 2 months

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means dont try to argue with the anti-cheating policy and attempt to find loopholes
