what values for theta(0 less than/equal to theta less than/equal to 2pi) satisfy the equation? 1) 3sin theta= sin theta -1 2)tan^2 theta= - 3/2 sec theta

OpenStudy (mertsj):

1. Subtract sin theta from both sides. 2. Replace tan^2 theta with sec^2 theta -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then what?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

1. Divide both sides by 2 2. Add -3/2 sec theta to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry im still soo lost

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What do you have so far?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And where did you get these problems?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these problems are from a quiz and i had 2 sin theta= 1/2 and then sin^-1 (1/2) but i dont think thats right

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That should be sin theta = -1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.. so the answer options are a) pi/3, 5pi/3 b) 2pi/3, 4pi/3 c)pi/6, 3pi/6 d) 7pi/6, 11pi/6

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So you will have to do these problems yourself. You have a good start but I am not doing your quiz for you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont think she is asking for you to do the quiz for he, i have the same problem out of my trig book. im sure a similar problem worked out for her could be used as notes to solve this problem. it appears mertsj is too prideful to admit he doesnt know how to solve the problem.
