A bag has 2 green marbles, 3 red marbles, and 3 yellow marbles. What is the probability that you pick a green marble, do not replace it, and pick a red marble? Answers: 1/28 9/56 1/8 3/28

@Mertsj

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What is the probability that you draw a green marble on the first draw?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/8 multiplied by something

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

okay, now one of the marbles is gone.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay. Now, if you've drawn a green marble, didn't replace it, what is the probability of drawing a red marble on the second draw?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

so you have 7 marbles left. What's the probability you pick a red one out of those 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 3/28 @bahrom7893 @whpalmer4

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool thank you guys again

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Another way of looking at this is that there are 8*7 possible outcomes, and only 6 of them are favorable (pick 1 of 2 the green marbles followed 1 of the 3 red marbles), so 6/56 or 3/28.
