y = x-2
and y = -2x+7
so plug the second one in for y in the first one
-2x+7 = x-2
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
make sense?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes it does
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats 1 part rihgt
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
correct

can you solve that for x?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how do u solve it for x
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
-2x+7 = x-2
add 2x to both sides
what do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2 over 9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2/9

how did you get that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
isn't it the answer that
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
-2x+7 = x-2
add 2x to both sides
-2x+7+2x=x-2+2x
notice the -2x cancels with the +2x on the left had side
OpenStudy (abb0t):
whose going 2 da club tonight?
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
so we have 7=3x-2
now add 2 to both sides to get 9=3x now divide both sides by 3

u need to do a drawing picture in this cuz im lost
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@zzr0ck3r u there
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
before you try and solve linear systems. you need to work on basic algebra.
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
you can draw the lines and talk about where they meet, but this is not how you are told to do it, and the way you are told to do it...cant be drawn.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
anyways my answer was right 2/9

no
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
the answer is 3
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
x = 3, now plug this in to either equation to find y.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what is the real equation for the first part 1
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
maybe abbot is making something pretty to show you:)
