Simplify the trigonometric expression sin^2 theta/1-cos theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need help

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Sin^2(theta) + Cos^2(theta) = 1 What does Sin^2(theta) equal to from that equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/csc^2 theta ???

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Well Sin^2(theta) = 1 - Cos^2(theta) If you plug that in, [ 1 - Cos^2(theta) ]/[1 - Cos(theta)] Use the formula for the difference of squares on top: (1-Cos(theta))*(1+Cos(theta))/(1-Cos(theta))

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Cancel out 1-Cos(theta) and that will be your answer.

dude full gratitude!
