What is the circumference of the given circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do i use C = 2(Pie)r to find the answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep! :) that or you can use the (pi)(d) formula, which is actually the same thing as the 2(pi)(r) formula. It'd just be easier because the picture gives you the diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if your diameter is 12.2, circumference = 12.2 x (pi) = 38. 33 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope that helps youuu!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It did thank you very much i was getting confused because it told me to do this diameter/2 plug it in for r and get my answer but that would make it 2 as much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

twice *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not it told me i thought i had to do it like that *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diameter is actually just the value of the radius times two!! :) for example. if your radius is 3 cm, your diameter would be 6cm. hypothetically speaking d can be rewritten as d = 2r if you plug in that value for d, you'll get 2(pi)r :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha oh gosh I know math's crazy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is, it get's me frustrated... a lot.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

To find a circumference of any circle, you must use the formula: \[\large Diameter \times \pi \] According to your picture, the diameter is 12.2. You want to multiply it by pi. This will give you 38.076. To the nearest hundredths, the answer would be 38.08.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you both for clearing that up for me i have another type of question will you help ?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay let me find it, it shouldn't take me longer than 2 minutes .

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do i use the same thing or no ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep!! :) they give you the radius this time you'd just use 2(pi)(r)

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

9 cm is the radius. 2 radius will give you diameter. So you just do 2r x pi to get the circumference.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

When I mean 2 radius, I mean 2 of 9cm will equal the diameter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, since i can't give you both a medal i became a fan instead (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha I honestly don't mind at all have fun with your math!!

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I hope you have a wonderful day or night. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both of you have a great day :D
