Find the midpoint of the line segment joining the point P1 and P2 P1=(-4,5) P2=(5,6)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

the mid point formula states that for 2 co ordinates (x1 ,y1) and (x2 ,y2) , the mid point is given by ( x1 + x2 /2 , y1 + y2 /2 )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-4+5)/2, (5+6)/2 That should give you the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the distance d(P1,P2) between the points P1 and P2 P1=(1,-2); P2=(3,1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the distance formula and plug in the numbers \[d=\sqrt{(x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok when I plug that in would that give me the square root 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea
