Question on the Renaissance! Anyone want to help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did a shift in thinking about the natural world during the Renaissance contribute to the start of the Scientific Revolution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need to know what they are asking me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think what they are asking is how did there thought of the natural world contribute scientific revolution, like what did it give to it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Renaissance thinkers shifted from an emphasis on Latin to Greek. Scientists shifted from thinking about the world to trying to understand how it functioned. In the Middle Ages, scientists began to understand God as more of an observer. Europeans shifted from thinking about how lands should be conquered to how they should be ordered. are my choices.... I think it is A....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm thinking B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/ Would you mind telling me why you think that? Sorry. I just am having trouble on this >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause the question is saying that how did there thought of the natural world contribute to the start of scientific revolution, and Renaissance thinkers shifted from an emphasis on Latin to Greek. really doesn't have anything to do with it. So B, makes more since.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much. Could you please help me with the last two? I'm rushing to finish my last assignment before summer break and this is all I have left :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll try and help the best I can (:

What did Copernicus and Galileo have in common? Both of them published works that challenged the views of the Church. They both believed in the geocentric theory of the universe. They were both imprisoned by the Church. Neither of them could test out their ideas about the universe.

What did Newton's book Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy argue about the role of mathematics in understanding the natural world? Newton's book argued that mathematics and physical science were separate and could not explain each other. Newton's book argued that gravity could not be explained by mathematics alone. Newton's book made the bold argument that physical science required the use of faith to understand the natural world. Newton's book argued that mathematical principles could be applied to our understanding of the natural world.

I'd have to say D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not positive on that one, but i'm pretty sure its that.

Last One!!!!! How did Descartes and Kepler contribute to the new scientific thinking? They showed how mathematics and measurement could be used in scientific investigation. They proved that science and mathematics were two separate areas of study. They determined that scientists had to study mathematics before they could study anything else. They proved that it was impossible to use mathematics in astronomy.
