HELP PLEASE(: Given F(x) shown below, complete the equation for the inverse of F(x). f(x)=x/2+3 f^-1(y)=____

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

The inverse...means that you switch the places of 'x' and 'y' and you solve for 'y' again Remember f(x) can also be written as 'y' so you have \[y = \frac{ x }{ 2 } + 3\] Switch the variables \[x = \frac{ y }{ 2 } + 3\] Now we solve for 'y'...can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in that case, would it be 2(x-3)?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Indeed it would!

thank you!

No problem!
