OpenStudy (aaronq):

Why would someone with high blood pressure and asthma not receive adrenergic beta-receptor blocking drugs to lower their blood pressure?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i know it lowers pulmonary function, but could someone elaborate on this?

thomaster (thomaster):

Because beta blockers can cause bronchoconstriction (narrowing of airways) That's normally not a problem for healthy patients but for asthma it can worsen the breathing problem that occurs with asthma.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

would you happen to know the signalling pathway or the effect? also, do you know if beta receptors are G protein coupled?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i found it, thanks dude!

thomaster (thomaster):

i do know beta receptors are Gprotein couples but i don't know the pathway srry :P

OpenStudy (aaronq):

haha thanks, regardless!
