I have noo idea how to do these ): What is the quotient? http://roads.advancedacademics.com/coursecontent/math/IIB05/AlgIIB_unit1a_files/image103.jpg A. 3x^3 - 10x^2 + 14x - 7 B. 3x^4 - 10x^3 + 14x^2 - 7 C. 3x^3 - 4x^2 +6x - 5 D. 3x^2 - 4x + 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is part of a synthetic division problem right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the dividend is \(3x^3-10x^2+14x-7\), the divisor is \(x-2\) the quotient is \(3x^2-4x+6\) and the remainder is \(5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well its polynomial division, but the answer is D then? ... i guess i just dont understand how these work. =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a weird way to present synthetic division kind of backwards if you wanted to divide \[(3x^3-10x^2+14x-7)\div (x-2)\] you would set it up as you see above the bottom line is the quotient and the remainder is 5

the blue lines are so confusing to me, i didnt know what to do with that random 5! that makes a little more sense though, thank you for typing ut out and explaining it!
