7-x/3=15

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

\[7 - \frac{ x }{ 3 } = 15\] Is that what it looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 - x/3 = 15 (multiply everything by 3 to get rid of the fraction) (3)7 - (3)x/3 = (3)15 21 - x = 45 21 - 45 = x - 24 = x check... 7 - (-24/3) = 15 7 + 24/3 = 15 7 + 8 =15 15 = 15 (correct) ANSWER : x = - 24

any questions ?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

OR in case it is \[\frac{ 7 - x }{ 3 } = 15\] multiply everything by 3 to get rid of the fraction \[7 - x = 45\] add x to both sides and subtract 45 from both sides \[7 = 45 + x\] \[x = 7 - 45\] \[x = -38\] So take your pick of my or @kelliegirl33 explanation depending on what your question looks like

oh...so true @johnweldon1993 .....it all depends on how the problem is set up.
