To which graph does the point (-1, 3) belong

OpenStudy (shamim):

do u wanna know the equation of line which is go through (-1,3)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

@danny562 are there any options???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a) y > 2x + 6 b) y > 3x - 1 c) y > -x + 2 d) y > -2x + 5

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

To get your answer, you can simply plug in X and Y into each of the following options it gives.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got c when i tried y> -x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right?

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

take option a) \[\huge y>2x+6\] plug the value of x in this equation, \[\huge y>2(-1)+6\] \[\huge y>4\] and then plug y, \[\huge 3>4\] it is not possible, so it is not the answer

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

and then try all options

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

can you solve it? @danny562

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is now a or c...

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

no!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is a

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

option a is wrong answer..i proved it ...scroll up and see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ya i see why 3>4 it dosnt work

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

yeah

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

so try it for all options

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

@danny562 so what is the answer???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d gives you 3>7 b gives you somethin i forgot... a is already proven wrong.. so c must be it.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

take option c) \[\huge y > -x + 2\] plug x and y values, \[\huge 3>-(-1)+2\] \[\huge 3>1+2\] \[\huge 3>3\] so it is not possible, so option c is not the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ughh i quit

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

and now take option b) and show your work.. @danny562

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3>-3 is the answer for b

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

so 3 is greater than -3. so option b is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU!

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

welcome:)
