Find the slope of the line that contains the following points. R(-3, 5), S(3, -2)
The slope of the line through points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given by : \(\huge m=\frac{y_1-y_2}{x_1-x_2}\) now, just put the values and find m.
i thought it was y2-y1 ?
if its y2-y1 in numerator, then there will be x2-x1 in denominator.. eventually, you will get the same answer...
oh okay
so, what did u get the slope here ?
-7/6
correct! good :)
thanks what about this one Find the slope of a line parallel to the line through the given points. P(-2, 4), Q(6, -2)
apply same formula, what slope you get ?
that would be slope of your paralel line, because parallel lines have same slope :)
6/-8
yes, correct :) and that would simplify to -3/4 :)
thanks
welcome ^_^
