What is the image of (1, -6) for a 270° counterclockwise rotation about the origin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this in the topic of linear transformations for vectors? If so, then apply the matrix, do you know the appropriate matrix transformation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Matrix? Uh.. No, not exactly..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case you maybe just want to note that 270°=90°+90°+90°

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it'd be in the third quadrant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-1,6)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the third quadrant sounds right to me so far, I disagree with the point though, in your algebra course you might want to draw it out, or construct lines to show the rotation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, oh, ohhh.. So it's (-6,-1) Right!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly, well done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sweet, thank you a lot!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're very welcome
