I think it's the third one..the first would mean x-4^2, second would mean 4-x, the third would mean (x-4)^2 because when you do order of operations (PEMDAS) you solve parentheses first (which would solve for the difference first, then square that difference since exponents come second), and the last is obviously wrong because it states 4-x
