Why is the Angle-Angle-Side(AAS) Congruence theorem called a theorem and not a postulate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can anybody explain?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cuz you can prove it using SAS postulate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it a theorem ....and proved by sas

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

In geometry we take few things as postulates, and based on them we prove other things. We decided to call SAS a postulate, and based on SAS we developed the theorems like AAS and ASA...

Thanks! :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're wlcme !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

keep this in mind :- postulates you need not prove. but theorems are required to be proven always.
