Which undefined terms are needed to define parallel lines A. Point, line B. Point, coplanar C. Line, plane D. Coplanar, line (its not D ive tried)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probably B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean c**

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no on both jacobcantpark, and it's best not to give out the answer like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well dont you need a line and the same plane? for parallel?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

nope, two lines are parallel in the plane if you have a line (undefined) and a point (also undefined) that's not on the line and you have another line going through this point this second line is only parallel if it never intersects the first line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i really dont understand how the answer is A.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

check out these pages to see why those terms are undefined (and how parallel lines are formed) http://www.examiner.com/article/undefined-terms-geometry http://regentsprep.org/Regents/math/geometry/GG1/Euclidean.htm

OK thanks
