? Using complete sentences, explain how to find the zeros of the function f(x) = 2x3 – 9x + 3. (2 points)

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Quad formula

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the quadratic formula would work if this was a quadratic

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but this is actually a cubic

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Oops, thanks Jim

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

np

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

because it's a cubic, I recommend using a calculator to find the approximate roots

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Or try syntheic division

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

*synthetic

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Use the work "bracket". I really like the work "bracket". f(x) = 2x^3 – 9x + 3 f(0) = +3 f(1) = -4 Aha! I have bracketed a zero between x = 0 and x = 1!
