i got 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you show your work? I got 4 as the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(y + 1) 4y + 1 i subtracted one and got 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does 4(y+1) explain? (It's 4y+4 btw)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distributive property

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hint: solve for y 5/2 = 12.5/(y+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant about the problem. Okay, what did you do to solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i subtracted it , and if i was solving for why i got 4.8? but i don't think its right..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find y, you need to find the length EQ, which is similar to length IN. To find EQ, you need to find the scale between the two shapes. As an example, I used the lengths BN and PQ to find that the scale is 0.4. 12.5 times 0.4=length EQ. EQ=5. y=EQ-1 So y=4

ohhh then i did something different thanks !
