please anyone tell me the uses of "should","would"....

OpenStudy (souvik):

i mean where to use those..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here are some example sentences. I hope they help WHERE TO USE SHOULD: - " I should exercise more" - "You should stop smoking" - "I think that you should wear a blue shirt" - "Should we go? or shouldn't we?" WHERE TO USE WOULD - "I would exercise more if I had the time" - "I would stop smoking if i wasn't so addicted" - "I would wear my blue shirt, but it is dirty" - "I would go there, but I'm too scared"

OpenStudy (souvik):

what is the difference in this two sentences : "I would go there, but I'm too scared" "I should go there, but I'm too scared"

- Should is different to 'would' as in this case, it is used to indicate a sense of obligation, duty (something you must do). - Should can also be used give advise or suggestions "You should go to bed at 9:30pm" - Should can also mean that something is expected as in "Students should be able to read by now." Here are some tips about when to use what: The traditional rule is that should is used with first person pronouns ( I and We) EXAMPLE: "I should be ten minutes late" And would is used in second and third person (you, he she, it, they) EXAMPLE: "You didn't say you would be late" In practice however, would is used in stead of should: EXAMPLE: I said I would be late Example: If we had known, we would have invited her Uses of should relate more to a sense of obligation - something you must or have to do: EXAMPLE: You should sleep more often EXAMPLE: You should have seen her face! In this case, it would be weird to say: You would have seen her face!
