sqrt 2a-1=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does it look like this? \[\huge \sqrt{2a - 1} = 5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

square both sides first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to get rid of the square root on the left side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't it jst 2 and 5? im not good at sqrt...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean just 2 and 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no clue on how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me show you an example. maybe you'll get an idea from there \[\huge \sqrt{5x +4} = 2\] \[\huge \implies (\sqrt{5x + 4})^2 = (2)^2\] \[\huge \implies 5x + 4 = 4\] \[\huge \implies 5x = 4 - 4\] \[\huge \implies 5x = 0\] \[\huge \implies x = 0\] does that give you any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you move the 5 over?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says that its the wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

move the 5 over? i just divided 5x = 0 both sides by 5... 0 divided by 5 is still 0 so x = 0 and that is just an example not the answer to your question...just so we're clear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^_^ better understand/clear the concept /....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it said 3 isn't right...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still confused..

OpenStudy (anonymous):
