Sucrose and lactose are two carbohydrates that have the same molecular formula (C12H22O11). Which of the following describes why sucrose and lactose have different properties? They are made up of different amino acids. They are monosaccharides with different atoms bonded to their rings. They each have two glucose molecules, but the arrangement differs. They are made of different combinations of monosaccharides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sucrose are oligosaccharid\[Glucose+fructose \rightarrow sucrose,.........Glucose+ Galactose= Lactose\]

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sucrose is a disaccharide, not oligo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And oligosaccharides are disaccharides...Right? :/

OpenStudy (aaronq):

nope. oligo- means more than 3 but less than poly- ..how ever many that might be.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oligo=few...:I More than 3 less than poly ?:/

OpenStudy (aaronq):

haha yeah, i haven't seen anywhere that defined poly or oligo accurately. oligo = few , poly = more than a few lol thats what i go by

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyways Thanks for correction..You're right Sucrose is Disaccharides..Sugar which composed of two monomers are disacchrides..:P

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no prob :P
