OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you check this for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following forms a proportion with fourteen over eighteen? is it 12/16

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you can check it by cross multiplying

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\large \frac{14}{18} = \frac{12}{16}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would i just cross multiply the answers for the question?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cross multiply

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you should get same number both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what would be the outcome like how would i know if its a proportion with fourteen over eighteen?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

then oly it forms a proportion

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cross multiply above, and see wat u get both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not i got 224 and 216

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes ! so it wont form a proportion. reject !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

like this, test all ur other options, see for which u get same number both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i just did all of them and none of the were the same...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me redo them

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ok :) what are your other options ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay its 14/18 x 35/45 and they both came out to 630, i must have done something wrong the first time I did the answer :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wow ! good work :))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! thanks for all the help! :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np you're wlcme :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, could you help me with one more thing? If so do you want me to open another question or can we just do it here?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

sure :) we can do it here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so the question says Match each pair of equivalent ratios... okay so it says 10/25 would it be 2:5 because 5 can go into ten 2 times and because 5 can go into 25 five times.. is this correct?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes thats correct !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and the next one says 6 to 8, would it be 3/4?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

correct :D looks these are too easy for you to solve :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, well the next one i dont understand really :p

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lets see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says 13/20 and the answers are 6 to 16 and 65%, just from looking at it i dont think 6/16 can do anything with 13/20 so i think it would be 65% but could you explain it to me?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're right ! its 65 %

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But why is it 65%

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

13 is 65% of 20

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lets see this from reverse :- 65% = ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

65% = 65/100

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.65?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

leave it in fraction form

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

65% = 65/100 5 goes in 65 how many times ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

5 goes in 100 how many times ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 times and 5 goes into 100 20 times so it would be 13/20 in simplest form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that right! :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

thats it !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay!! :D thank you so much!!!!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good job !! yw :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you can also do it in direct way like below :- \(\frac{13}{20} = \frac{13}{20}\times 100 \% \) \( = ?\)
