FIND THE SURFACE AREA HELP?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ive tried this 3 times.. i keep getting wrong numbers as my answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heres possible options.

OpenStudy (reemii):

area of bottom + side area + area of cone pi r^2 + 2pi r 12 + pi r L , where L is the length of the segment joining the top of the cone to a point of the base. L = 13. So, the answer is : \(\pi (r^2 + 2 r 12 + r L)\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Acilender+Acone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Acilender+Acone+pi r ^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.14(5^2+2*5+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like that??

OpenStudy (reemii):

dont forget any quanities. : π(r2+2 r 12+rL) = π(2 x 5+24 x r+ 5 x 13)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.14(5^2+2*5*13*2+5*13)= like this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im having trouble seeing this equation setup

OpenStudy (reemii):

read again what I wrote, you're not using the same equation. You don't need to change pi into 3.14 because you want to see "pi" in the answer. Just find the factor multiplying pi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant put the pi symbol here tho.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

200cm squared*

OpenStudy (reemii):

\(\pi(2r+2\times r\times 12+rL)\) with \(r=5, L=13\). It's not \(200\pi\)cm\(^2\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO (2*5+2*5*12+5*13)

OpenStudy (reemii):

sorry, i copied it with an error. \(\pi(r^2 + 2\times r \times 12 + rL)\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GOT 659 PI

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its still wrong..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could i just have the answer? i need to leave in less then 5 minutes. :/

OpenStudy (reemii):

the answer is 210pi cm^2. but you should rather look at the beginning again why this is true. 659 is the answer when you multiply by pi. dont do that and you will get the right answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx its 210!!
