MIT 6.189 A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python (OCW) 7 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

What or how do you code or show a test case in python?

OpenStudy (espex):

A test case for what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind me. Tired and not thinking right. I read further in the assignment and basically figured it out. Though i do have a separate question you could me out with. In the assignments for 6.189 whenever they have a maths question there is a symbol that i just cannot find what it means. It looks like a / or \ but slightly curved. What does it mean?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

\(\int\) ? Integral.

OpenStudy (espex):

Which of the .189 problems uses integrals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't know. It's in Homework 1. Ex 1.4 part 1 question/example 2 \[7 * \frac{ 1 }{ 2}\] and they are around the 1.

OpenStudy (espex):

( )

OpenStudy (espex):

Parenthesis, used for grouping and enforcing order of operations.

OpenStudy (espex):

\(7*(\frac{1}{2})\) tells you to do the 1/2 first and then multiply by 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its not a parentheses and its only over the 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Theres another in Homework 2 Ex 2.3 question 2 next to angle_test.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, but with \left( \right to make them the same size as the fraction: \(7*\left(\cfrac{1}{2}\right)\)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Which version of the Acrobat Reader do you have?

OpenStudy (espex):

My page looks the same as the one @e.mccormick posted, I'm not seeing a symbol above the 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (espex):

Part of your parenthesis is missing.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, that is the new, messed up browser version of the reader. If never works right and I wish they would just remove it. use the download button on the upper left, get a real copy of the file, and open it in regular Acrobat Reader and it is all fine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow after all of that. I have literally spent the last hour and a half trying to track down what the symbol means. If I save the pdf and then view it its right. Damn my life to hell and back LMAO.

OpenStudy (espex):

:)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Or :` in his case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol. Cheers guys.

OpenStudy (espex):

haha

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Have fun!
