quarts = punch?

The total amount of punch must be between 9 and 15. Let a=quarts of pineapple and b=quarts of papaya. a+b > 9 a+b <15 You want at least 4 quarts of each. So: a>4 b>4 Does this help you get started?

ummm.....no sorry im still lost is there a way you can do another stop without telling me the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could it be (4,10); (4,9); (4,11)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

we know that, whatever amount your pour of one, the other will have to be at least 4 quarts we also know that the amount of both, have to be at least 9 quarts so, if we pour 5 of papaya, the amount of pineapple will be (9-papaya) + 4 or (9 -5 ) +4 4+4 = 8 quarts of pineapple why +4? because each quantity should be at least 4 quarts so pineapple = a papaya = (9-a+4) 9 < a + (9-a+4) < 15
