Your friend has a quarter (Q), a dime (D) and a nickel (N). He keeps each coin hidden under a small styrofoam cup so you do not know the location of the coin. You randomly pick two coins out of the three by lifting two cups. Which of the following is a valid sample space? A. {N, D, Q} B. {(N,D), (N,Q)} C. {(N,D), (N,Q), (D,Q)} D. {(N,D,Q), (N,Q,D), (D,N,Q), (D,Q,N), (Q,N,D), (Q,D,N)}

well if the answers are all combinations, then the answer would be C, because that lists all the possible outcomes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that whats considered sample space though? cause i thought that as well, just wanted to double check.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know what the definition of "sample space" is.. it's definitely not A, B, or D making me assume sample space means a sample of all possible outcomes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, thats my answer too, cause youre only picking up two coins not three which is shown in D. hmph. okee. thank you.

you're welcome
