I don't understand them at all
From: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+23&version=NIV Psalm 23 A psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Footnotes: Psalm 23:4 Or the valley of the shadow of death
The Sermon on the Mount is a little long to list it here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5-7&version=NIV However, you can take each line of Psalm 23 and look for it in The Sermon on the Mount. "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing." OK, this talks about wants and needs. Because of being a servant of God, there is no need for other things. Generally that would be worldly things. So, anything about the needs of worldly things in the The Sermon on the Mount? Treasures in Heaven 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Ah ha! There we are. So, if a person focuses on the riches here, they give up their focus on God. Instead, they must give up worldly want of riches and focus on heavenly ones. While these are not exactly the same lines, they do talk about some of he same things. That a worldly need means nothings. That fulfillment comes from God. Just keep going and looking at it that way. Take one line from Psalm 23 and find out what it means. Use research sites if needed. Once you have that understood, then it is easier to look through the more detailed Sermon on the Mount and uncover similarities or contradictions.
thank you
No problem, it is still a lot of work, but if you break it down like that, each part is a little work. And a lot of little jobs are something many people can do. Once you have all the little jobs done, then you can write a summary at the end that talks about what you found. For example, "Because only have the lines match up, there is little similarity..." or "Everything in one passage can be found in the other, which implies..." and some conclusion. That ties all the little bits of work back together into one big one.
