Is it still worth to do this course as an intro to python and programming if it is teaching python 2.5x? Or should I find a python 3.0 course?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is mainly a computer science course. it is not a Python course. The focus is on computer science topics. Python was chosen because it is an easy language to learn so hopefully 'you' can focus on the computer science aspect rather than struggling with the language. You will need to spend time 'outside of the course' learning parts of the language - the documentation and the net are your friends. ... do the course with 2.7.x. - all the examples and syntax will work. There is a large 2.x code base out there, it is worth learning. You can always learn 3.x later

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If y7ou are learning Python to learn Python, a great deal of code is written in 2.x. Learning only 3.x might be advisable in a year to three years, but at this point it is the trailing end of transitioning and not all tools have 3.x version. Therefore, it is important to know both at this point! If you are learning Python as part of getting into Computer Science, the version does not matter.

OK thanks, ill stick with this course!
