How is the 'small groups' / oral participation handled when you're an at-home student? My son, a rising sophomore in high school, has completed Spanish II using a traditional, American-style, highschool-styled class. We homeschool, and I'm wondering at what level of the MIT/Spanish classes to enroll him? Spanish I says 'no prior knowledge assumed'; is Spanish II, though, too advanced? Thank you for any advice or feedback on these questions.
Has he already learned how to conjugate verbs in the present tense? Including irregular and stem-changing verbs. And how about correct grammar and sentence structure? I understand that these lessons are covered in Spanish 1. But the important question is whether or not he's confidently mastered those beginner concepts.
Thank you for your response. Yes, his high school Spanish I and Spanish II have conjugated present, past, and imperfect tenses. I do think he has confidently mastered the beginner concepts. I'm wondering about how the 'oral participation' grade of these MIT classes is handled by a home-based student. Thanks for any feedback about which course level to place him in.
