A concession stand charges $1.50 per soda and $2.00 per pretzel. write an expression for the amount of money you would need to buy x sodas and y pretzels. PLEASE HELP!

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

first, asign variables. Lets say that s=soda, p=pretzel, and m=money

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

then we know that there are 1.50s+2.00p=m

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

because the amount of money that we have is not given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats all i would need to say?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

right, because as soon as you start specifying the amount of money you have, the amount of sodas/pretzels, then the equation will change and may become solvable.

ok! can i ask u one more?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

ask away :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

line 1: 50/5(3-1)-4 line 2: 50/5(2)-4 line 3: 50/10-4 line 4: 5-4 line 5: 1 whats wrong with this and whats the correct answer if what it asks

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you should follow the order of operations. first you divide 50 by 5

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you are left with 10(2)-4

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

then you multiply 10*2 and you get 20-4

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

20-4=16 16 is your final answer

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

@ashleyjade r u there? lol

oh sorry! and yes! thank you!
